Dr. Banks has been in practice at Southwest General Health Center since 1999 and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has world-class training in joint replacement surgeries and in the most state-of-the-art techniques. He is fellowship trained at the Johns Hopkins University, a world leader in joint replacement. During his residency he also completed the esteemed Allen Fellowship in Orthopaedic Research at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University under the direction of Dr. Ed Greenfield. Dr. Banks has numerous publications including book chapters and academic articles in orthopaedics.
Dr. Banks currently serves as the Chief, Department of Surgery and the Director of the Southwest General Hospital Orthopaedic Total Joint Center. Dr. Banks was a founding member of the Total Joint Center at Southwest General Hospital which was one of the first joint replacement only hospital units in Northeast Ohio. Dr. Banks also served as the Chief of Orthopaedics at Southwest General Health Center and as the Chief of Surgery at Southwest General Health Center. He also serves as the Chair of Physician IT at Southwest General Health Center. As a former Metro LifeFlight physician he also has significant expertise in fracture care and care of the trauma patient. Dr. Banks also has served as Columbia High School Team physician for many years previously providing comprehensive sports coverage.
Dr. Banks is born and raised in the Southwest General Hospital community and is happy to serve his hometown and local community by providing comprehensive orthopaedic care. Dr. Banks enjoys traveling, boating, and outdoor activities.
